National Grid has recorded its first collapse in 2025.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that barely ten days into the new year, Nigeria’s national power grid has experienced its first major collapse of 2025, plunging the nation into a widespread blackout.

This is the 13th grid failure in the past 13 months, and many Nigerians are frustrated by the recurring outages.

Reports from the Punch indicate that power generation plummeted sharply, dropping from 2,111.01 megawatts at 2:00 pm to just 390.20 MW by 3:00 pm.
