Joe Ajaero has agreed to honor the police invitation on Terrorism and Treason offences.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has responded to allegations by the Nigeria Police accusing its National President, Joe Ajaero, of links to terrorism financing, treasonable felony and other related offences.

This Nigeria news platform recalls that the Nigeria Police Force on Monday invited Joe Ajaero for questioning over allegations of terrorism financing, treasonable felony, cybercrime and other related offences.

The invitation was contained in a letter dated August 19, 2024, and signed by ACP Adamu Muazu on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team.

According to the letter, sighted by our correspondent, the police warned that a warrant of arrest would be issued if Ajaero failed to appear for interrogation on Tuesday (today).

When contacted by Daily Post, the spokesperson for the Congress, Benson Upah, denied the police’s claims.

He questioned how any member of Congress could be involved in financing terrorism when they are struggling to feed.

Upah said, “Let me tell you, we don’t even have money to eat; where is the money we are going to use to finance terrorism? I laugh!

“In this country, when we talk about people who care about sovereignty, dignity, and safety, it is us, the citizens.

“We see it as an inalienable duty and responsibility to keep this country safe for every one of us.”

When asked if the NLC president would be honouring the invitation, Benson said, “We are law-abiding citizens. If there is any need for our attention, we are duty-bound to honour such invitations.”
