NewsOnline reports that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will soon start releasing results for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Head of the Public Affairs and Protocol Unit of JAMB, Fabian Benjamin, revealed this on Saturday, April 29th, after observing the ongoing examination in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.
According to Mr. Benjamin, the examination body is currently reviewing the details of the UTME conducted so far, and as soon as all necessary checks have been carried out, the results of candidates who have sat their papers since the examination kicked off on Tuesday will be released. He added that JAMB is in a meeting to ensure that all “Ts” are crossed and “Is” are dotted before releasing the first batch of results.
Mr. Benjamin also commended the conduct of this year’s examination as one of the best the examination body has conducted in recent times, despite the hitches recorded at the commencement of the examination nationwide on Tuesday. He noted that only 6% of candidates experienced hitches out of the 947,000 candidates who had taken the test since Tuesday, and the board has rescheduled their tests for other sessions.
Almost 1.6 million candidates seeking admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and monotechnics are expected to take the tests before Tuesday, May 2nd. Mr. Benjamin assured all candidates who registered for the exams will be given the opportunity to take the tests, although technical hitches cannot be totally avoided.
He urged candidates, particularly those who couldn’t sit for the first day’s exercise, to continue checking their profiles to print their slips as they will be rescheduled to take the examinations. On Tuesday, some candidates experienced minimal hitches and delays in centers visited across Lagos and Abuja, with a supervisor noting that the hitch was from JAMB. Later that day, the board announced that it had rescheduled the test for all candidates who experienced hitches.
