He urged wealthy individuals to recognize their responsibility to help those in need, noting that greater rewards come to those who extend a helping hand.

Governor Otti also encouraged the scholarship recipients to uphold high academic standards, as the annual funding will continue throughout their studies as long as they maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.5.

He said the initiative was a way of investing in the future of bright but indigent students of Abia origin or those residing in the state and encouraged the beneficiaries to focus more on their academics to develop a critical mind that would equip them for the world ahead.

He said he would liaise with the Executive Secretary of the foundation to review the scholarship package upwards from Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira in line with the current economic realities.

In opening remarks, the head of corporate communications for the AlexOtti Foundation, Dr Destiny Isiguzo, said the foundation was conceived by Dr. Alex Otti even before he became Governor of the State, adding that the selection process was transparent and based on merit, he thanked the Governor for the opportunity.

Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, Miss Success Nwankpa and one of the Parents at the occasion Mrs Chidimma Okwo, while narrating their experiences of life, described the award as a life-changing one, they thanked the Governor for giving them hope and a future through the foundation

Our correspondent reports that a total of 46 beneficiaries from different higher institutions were selected for this year’s edition of the programme.
