Fuel Prices have dropped across Abuja as landing cost fell below Dangote Refinery rate.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that several filling stations across Abuja have reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, following a further drop in the landing cost of the product — now lower than the Dangote Refinery’s ex-depot price.

Findings by NewsOnline on Wednesday, November 5, revealed that major marketers, including NIPCO, AA Rano, Eterna, and Empire Energy, have adjusted their pump prices downward in different parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to reports, NIPCO and AA Rano now sell petrol at ₦940 per litre, down from ₦950–₦955, while Eterna sells at ₦945 and Empire Energy at ₦955, representing a drop of ₦4 to ₦10 per litre depending on the location.

Similarly, NNPCL Retail has reduced its pump price to ₦945 per litre, from ₦955 previously. However, some stations such as MRS (Dangote Petrol) and Ranoil have maintained prices at ₦950 and ₦955 respectively, though adjustments may occur soon.’

An MRS station manager, who preferred not to be named, said:

“We may review our price later in the evening, but for now, we are still selling at ₦950 per litre.”

Landing Cost Drops to ₦827.04 Per Litre

Recent data from the downstream energy market show that the landing cost of petrol has fallen to ₦827.04 per litre as of November 3, 2025, down from ₦829.77 recorded at the end of October.

A breakdown of current ex-depot prices shows:

  • Dangote Refinery – ₦872

  • Pinnacle – ₦872

  • NIPCO – ₦870

  • BOVAS – ₦870

  • Aiteo – ₦870

  • AA Rano – ₦870

This means Dangote’s rate is about ₦2 higher than most depot operators, and the current landing cost remains ₦44.96 cheaper than Dangote’s ₦872 per litre price.

The development comes shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved a 15% import duty on petrol and diesel to encourage local refining and strengthen the competitiveness of Dangote Refinery.

Industry stakeholders believe that unless Dangote reviews its pricing to align with the falling landing cost, more filling stations may continue to reduce pump prices, particularly those sourcing from cheaper private depots.
