FG has promoted 30 Controllers of Corrections to Assistant Controllers General.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal Government has approved the promotion of 30 Controllers of Corrections to the prestigious rank of Assistant Controllers General (ACG) in the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) in a major administrative shakeup.

The promotions were ratified by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) under the Ministry of Interior, as part of the government’s ongoing commitment to institutional reform and professional excellence.

According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the NCoS, Umar Abubakar, the elevation exercise aligns with the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and aims to strengthen leadership capacity across correctional formations nationwide.

Out of the 30 promoted officers, 27 are from the General Duty cadre, recognized for their exceptional dedication, leadership qualities, and operational competence. The remaining three were professional officers honored for their outstanding contributions in Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, and Public Health.

“This promotion exercise reflects the ongoing reform agenda in the Service, spearheaded by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, whose unwavering commitment to repositioning the Service for efficiency and professionalism is unprecedented,” the statement read.

The Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, congratulated the newly promoted officers, urging them to see the elevation as both a reward for their past performance and a call to higher responsibility.
