Akpabio, Sanwo-Olu and Shaibu among others have bagged fresh APC appointments.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a 197-man campaign council ahead of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State.

The list was released on Wednesday by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu.

The council, chaired by Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu, aims to lead the party’s campaign efforts.

Other notable members of the council include Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda as co-chairman, former Edo Governor and APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole as deputy chairman, and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as assistant secretary.

The council also comprises Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo; Ogun Governor, Dapo Abiodun; his counterpart in Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and other governors elected on the platform of the APC.

Notably, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo, Philip Shaibu, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, is also a member of the council.

The APC governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, will face candidates from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, Asue Ighodalo; and the Labour Party, Olumide Akpata, in the upcoming election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed September 21, 2024 for the governorship election in Edo State.
