Senate President Akpabio has reportedly removed Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as Committee Chair amid controversy.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that strong indications have emerged that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), representing Kogi Central, has been removed as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

The decision was taken by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, effectively stripping Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan of any committee leadership position.

This marks the second time she has been removed from a chairmanship role, having previously been replaced as Chair of the Local Content Committee in February before being reassigned to the Diaspora and NGOs Committee.

She is now set to resume duties in the Senate without heading any committee.

Senator Aniekan Bassey of Akwa Ibom North East has been named as her replacement.
