There seems to be no end in sight to the seven months of strikes embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU, following their reaction to the Industrial Court ruling.
Newsonline reports that ASUU has said it will appeal the ruling of the Industrial Court which mandated the university teachers to return back to their classes.
In a ruling on a case brought before it by the Federal government over the continued strike action by the body of university lecturers, the Industria Court in its ruling directed ASUU to suspend the seven months strike it embarked on on February 14, 2022.
However, ASUU called on the members to remain calm as their lawyer was already preparing files to appeal the decision to the Industrial Court at a higher court.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Lagos Zone of the union, on Wednesday, the union urged its members to remain calm.
The statement reads in part; “Our Comrade President, Comrade Victor Osodeke, has urged members of our Great Union to remain calm as there is no cause for alarm on the back-to-work order delivered earlier today.
“Our lawyer is filing an appeal and stay of execution of the judgment. Members should remain resolute and strong. A people united can never be defeated. Solidarity without compromise.”
