All Progressive Congress Chieftain has warned governors not to challenge Buhari and Adamu candidate for the APC primary election.

Newsonline reports that a former Minister of Tourism, Femi kayode, has warned governors and delegates of the ruling All Progressive Congress not challenge the consensus candidate of President Muhammadu Buhari and National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu.

Chief Femi Kayode said it was not the right of the governors of APC to decide who becomes the consensus candidate of the party hours to the voting of the APC presidential primary election.

Fani Kayode said the president, Muhammadu Buhari, National Chairman, Adamu Abdullahi, and delegates have the right to decide who becomes the consensus candidate of APC.

Chief Femi, said the decision of 14 APC governors to disagree to the president’s candidate will not go well with the ruling party.

“It is not for the Northern Governors to singlehandedly zone or determine the Presidential candidate of our party. It is for the President, the Nat. Chairman, the NWC and the delegates to decide. A challenge to the authority of the Chairman and supremacy of the party is unacceptable.”

Femi said, “The Northern Governors that are saying they are zoning the ticket and reducing the aspirants to 3 ought to be mindful of this. They do not have that power and neither ought they try to determine who our candidate ought to be.”

Chief Kayode said if the governors and delegates have problem with the president’s candidate, all aspirants should be allowed to run. He said any action contrary, will lead the ruling party running against the 2022 amended Electoral Act.

“Let everyone run and let there be a level playing field. If you try to force anyone to step down by excluding them from the ballot at the Convention, know that you are violating section 84 of the Electoral Act and that aspirant will go to court and turn the whole proceeding into a nullity.”
