APC Calls for Law To Regulate Twitter, Social Media, Says It's Toxic

The All Progressives Congress (APC) member of House of Representatives representing Idanre/Ifedore federal constituency of Ondo State, Tajudeen Adefisoye, has called for a law to regulate social media and Twitter in Nigeria.

Newsonline reports that Tajudeen Adefisoye said Twitter and social media have become toxic because there is no law guiding the utterances of the citizens.

Alhaji Tajudeen Adefisoye who is Deputy Chairman of HOR Committee on Army tweeted that “Social Media is a toxic place, especially in this Country. It should be regulated.”

Adefisoye’s call for regulation of social media comes days after Bola Tinubu, APC presidential candidate said he left social media because of insults he receives from Nigerian youths.

However, Hon. Ben Igbakpa member of House of repesentatives representing Ethiope Federal Constituency of Delta State argued that the call by the APC that social media has become toxic ground against their presidential candidate was a retaliation for the party’s attack to former president Goodluck Jonathan in 2014.

Reacting to Tinubu’s statement of being insulted by Nigerians on social media, Igbakpa said, “they abused the hell out of HE Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on social media. They funded and attended a fake funeral of GEJ. Dame Patience was the subject of mockery daily. The aggressors will now rather avoid social media because of abuses. You get back the same energy you put out.”

Peter Obi trying to Make a name against 2027

The supporter of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu also said the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is warming for the 2027 general election, adding the former governor of Anambra State will not win the 2023 elect

He said, “I think Peter Obi is just trying to make a name against 2027. The target is 2027 but Asiwaju would have done a great job that Nigerians will just want him to continue for another 4 years.”
