Akpabio Appoints Committee Heads For Regional Development Commissions (FULL LIST)

The South East committee will be chaired by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, with Senator Anthony Ani as vice chairman.

Akpabio has appointed committee heads for Regional Development Commissions.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday appointed senators who will lead and serve on five newly created regional development committees.

 

This announcement was made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a plenary session.

 

The committees were set up to address the development needs of various regions in the country.

These include the South South Development Commission (SSDC), South East Development Commission (SEDC), North West Development Commission (NWDC), South West Development Commission (SWDC), and North Central Development Commission (NCDC).

 

For the South South region, Senator Benson Sunday Konbowei was appointed to head the SSDC, while Senator Asuquo Ekpeyong was named his deputy.

 

Other senators from the zone, including Onowakpo Thomas Joel, Benson Friday Agadaga, and Samaila Dahuwa Kaila, were also included.

 

The South East committee will be chaired by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, with Senator Anthony Ani as vice chairman.

 

The group includes several lawmakers from the region such as Tony Nwoye, Osita Ngwu, and Enyinnaya Abaribe, among others.

 

In the North West, Senator Babangida Uba Hussaini will lead the NWDC, supported by Senator Dandutse Muntari Mohammed.

 

Other members include Sani Zango Daura Nasiru, Ibrahim Lamido, and Abdulhamid Mallam-Madori Ahmed.

 

The South West group will be headed by Senator Yunus Abiodun Akintunde, with Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu as his deputy.

 

Names such as Adeyemi Adaramodu, Adeniyi Ayodele Adegbonmire, and Olugbenga Justus Daniel were also listed among its members.

 

For the North Central zone, Senator Titus Tertenger Zam will chair the NCDC, assisted by Senator Isah Jibrin.

 

Others on the team include Sunday Steve Karimi, Ireti Heebah Kingibe, and Osita Bonaventure Izunaso.

 

In a related move, Akpabio made minor changes to the leadership of some existing Senate committees.

 

Senator Fadeyi Oluwole Olubiyi was announced as the new head of the Environment Committee, while Senator Sadiq Umar Sulieman now leads the Committee on Rules and Business.
