2023 Election: Tinubu, Peter Obi, My Position - Ghana President Akufo-Addo

The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, has stated his position on the 2023 general election and the presidential candidates of All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi.

Newsonline reports that the Ghanaian president refuted a trending social media post that he called on Bola Tinubu, former governor of Lagos State to step down for Peter Obi following his health condition.

A Facebook post claimed that the president of Ghana was supporting Peter Obi and had gone ahead to call Tinubu to step down for the former governor of Anambra State.

President Nana disclosed that neither Ghana nor himself has a role to play in Nigeria 2023 elections.

In a Twitter post on Tuesday, Akufo-Addo labeled the information as false and mischievous.

He stated that Ghana and Nigeria boast of decades of cordial ad brotherly relations.

President Akufo-Addo wrote, “My attention has been drawn to a disturbing post making the rounds on social media, where it is alleged I have written to the 2023 presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to ‘give Peter Obi a chance and seek treatment for his health’.

“This is completely false and mischievous, with no iota of truth whatsoever in it,” Akufo-Addo.

“Ghana and Nigeria boast of decades of cordial, strong and brotherly relations,” and he is “not going to be the one to interfere in the internal affairs and politics of Nigeria.”
